Firstly Hatsoff to Dhoni . I thought he handled the bowlers really well, although Pak is sub-par batting team, i felt the field placements and bowling changes were nothing less than top notch in this game. Pak has derailed themselves the moment they opened with Younis Khan. There is a reason opening is considered a specialist job, and the Pak managemnt somehow keeps surprising everyone, with such strange decisions. If it were not for the fluent and confident Haris sohail, they would have rolled out below 150. Indian Fielding was top notch, In Suresh Raina i dare say we have our own Mark Waugh in close fielding. Have seen him agile in fielding always even when he seems to be competing with boon in the waist size. The two catches - Haris Sohail's by Rohith Sharma, Shehzad's by Sir Jaddu, give glimpse into how well the team has worked on fielding. amazing reflxes! Apart from the blunder from Dhoni for Shehzad-Sohail runout possibility, cant find any glaring issues. Batting wise, Rohith's batting was as dreamy as usual,but unlike most pleasent dreams they can be short and can wake you up with screams. We will never know what runs in his genious mind. hopefully we will be blessed to watch some of his magical innings in this world cup. Dhawan and Kohli, discarded their usual pompous style batting, but stuck to basics of stealing the difficult one and two's with ocassional boundaries. so glad to see them stick out as long as they could. that is essential in ODIs, and not to get confused these games as T20. Dhawan's was an especially special innings, as he is capable of insane brain freezes. he seems to have batted with a plan in mind, which i will definitely help dhoni feel good and confident of top order. Raina played as enigmatically as ever, you never know what kind of stuff he can throw around. on his day he can bat as brutally as sehwag or say chris gayle. this was one such day, especially the spinners had no clue where the right area was to bowl. he danced all over the pitch as though the position of the stumps did not matter, and the bowlers seemed like they dint know where his stumps where! Finally a decent effort from the bowlers, but again Pak is a sub-par batting team, it might be a pure lack of quality in batsmen that might have made ashwin like a clone of murali, but it could be a blessing in disguise, if it can help boost the team's confidence. Playing against SA is on a different plane in every which way ,barring the "rivarly" part of it. there will be no dropped chances, no easy doubles, and last but not the least, lady luck might not help with the DRS decisions. the key is put them to chase, and score good enough runs, so SA can panic themselves to a defeat Good luck team india. if any change, Binny in place of Sir Jaddu might help against SA. |
