Articles gifted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be put on auction in Surat from Wednesday, and included in the list is the monogrammed pinstripe suit that spelt out his name. The proceeds of the auction will be used for the Clean Ganga campaign, said Rajkot District Magistrate Rajendra Kumar. Mr Modi wore the suit during US President Barack Obama's three-day visit to India last month, inviting criticism from Opposition parties. Neither PM Modi, nor his office had responded to the criticism. Speaking about the auction process, Mr Kumar said 361 items will be on display for three days. "The articles are in brass, bronze, silver and gold. These also include cloth items gifted to the Prime Minister," Mr Kumar said. During his stint as the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Mr Modi used to put out gifts received for auction. The proceeds were used to further the education of girls. The pinstriped suit, which spelt his full name -- Narendra Damodardas Modi - was tailored by Jade Blue in Ahmedabad, the clothing chain that handles the Prime Minister's wardrobe and has copyrighted the 'Modi Brand' of kurtas. http://www.ndtv.com/india-news/pm-modis-personalised-pinstri pe-suit-to-be-auctioned-740372 } Karimnagar Pawan Fan |
