Dragonfly Data Factory founder and CEO Ram Pothula met Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday and discussed his companyâs plans to set up a âdata factoryâ in Visakhapatnam. Mr Ram Pothula informed the Chief Minister that the factory would have two components â one relating to state government and the other to attract international clients. On the model for A.P. government, he mentioned that vast quantities of static data available with government departments could be used to reduce fraud, automate manual processes, maximize productivity and drive smarter decisions. For instance, if data on Stateâs population and education was available, the company could give estimates and predictions on infrastructure needed to upgrade educational institutions structure curriculum that increases studentsâ knowledge and skill set to revamp the education system. He informed the Chief Minister that the new unit would come up in 600 sq.ft in Visakhapatnam. This would be a software defined cloud-enabled data factory offering data mining, predictive analytics and insights using sensors and smart gadgets. The Chief Minister asked Mr Ram Pothula and his team to prepare a report on the best practices in the world in the field of predictive analytics and carry out gap analysis to understand where Andhra Pradesh stands in knowledge segment. Stating that he aims to make the state a âknowledge hub,â the Chief Minister asked Mr Pothula to identify data mining, data science, analytics courses in coordination with universities like Stanford, MIT and others to incorporate them into curriculum in A.P.âs universities. This, the Chief Minister, said will build a huge talent pool of data technicians, data engineers and data scientists. âI want to have entire government data on cloud,â he said, suggesting Dragonfly to attract players who would be interested to set up their data warehouses in Visakhapatnam.
