Malicious and false allegations by BJP on AAP funding · AAP is ready for a probe by any agency of the central govt Monday, 02 February 2015 The BJP and some mysterious fronts created by it close to Delhi assembly elections have unleashed a malicious and false propaganda on the funding of the Aam Aadmi Party. Since Monday morning a defamatory smear campaign is being run against the AAP to confuse the people and divert attention from important issues concerning the people of Delhi. The AAP is the only political party in India whose entire donations are in public domain and fully transparent. Every rupee donated to the party is displayed on its website for public scrutiny. The AAP funding has already been probed twice by successive central governments, both the UPA and now the NDA government. The AAP challenges the BJP-led NDA central government to probe its funding from any of the agencies at its command as many times as it wants. It has been wrongly alleged that the AAP has accepted funds from dubious sources on 5 April 2014. The party is setting the record straight to quell all rumours and misinformation : · All donations have been made through cheques and are legal and legitimate banking transactions. · The AAP asks its donors to provide their banking details, PAN numbers, addresses and telephone numbers to filter any unwanted sources. · Like all donations, these cheques were displayed on the party website after they were realised in the bank accounts. · The AAP uploads its donation record through a software which uses a batch technique and therefore multiple cheque donations post realisation approval are uploaded in a batch. · Therefore the myth that is being spread that a suspicious transaction took place in dark hours at midnight is absolutely false. · All cheque donations post realisation in banks are uploaded on the website in a batch process during night hours, therefore the malicious campaign about transactions at midnight is completely incorrect. A frustrated and desperate BJP is spreading lies and the AAP challenges the BJPâs central government to get its funding probed by any central agency at its disposal. How can aspersions be cast on donations received through cheques duly cleared by banks and found to be in order ? The BJP should not behave like a helpless opposition party since it has been in power since eight months and it should deploy all agencies at its command to probe its allegations against the AAP. On May 7 2014, the union home ministry in its affidavit submitted in the Delhi High Court stated:âThe details of contributions in excess of Rs 20,000 in 2012-13 filed by AAP with Election Commission of India were also collected and scrutinized. The passport numbers as mentioned in the contribution report of Election Commission of India were checked and it was found that they possess Indian passports. Hence, donation received from them is not treated as foreign contribution as per FCRA, 2010.â This was followed by another oral submission by the home ministry before the Delhi High Court in December 2014, that there was no discrepancy in funding of the AAP. The AAP reiterates its commitment for transparency in political funding and will resist any attempts to defame the party. | ||
