In our family, we never take flu shots so far. Each year our insurance sends free flu shot vouchers, I always trash them. If we get fever/cold etc, we take it for a week or so but never gone for the flu shot. | ||

I never took a flu shot in my life time even in US. I got flu in childhood, Dad being doc was never a problem i never did it for children. Flu is no dangerous, as the symptoms can be managed well these days Swineflu vipareetam ga unte tappadu. | ||

I am not sure but I can make three guesses: 1. Live virus inject cheesy vaccines lifetime immunity istai. Flu shots lo live virus ivvaru kabatti lifetime immunity raadu. 2. Flu virus is stubborn and doesn't easily die if the antibodies are not strongly present. So as years pass after vaccination, antibodies may not be present in large enough quantities to contain flu virus. Some other vaccinations may not be dealing with such stubborn viruses. 3. Flu shots too last a long while but because flu viruses mutate often, old vaccinations may not help much against new strains of the virus. Other vaccinations may deal with viruses that don't mutate (change forms) so often. | ||

Flu shots (except the nasal version) take about two weeks to take effect so if somebody gets exposed to the flu virus within these two weeks, even if the strain is included in the vaccine, they can still get fever and the other flu symptoms. Usually, the severity is lower though. Flu shots (except the nasal version) do not contain live virus (they contain dead virus) so they NEVER cause the flu or flu related fever. They may fail to prevent, but they don't cause. Flu shots only protect against three or four strains of the flu virus so if one gets exposed to other strains, they can still catch the flu. | ||

Nowhere does the article say that she suffered because of the flu shot. It looks like the flu shot didn't help her but it didn't hurt her either. Very young and very old people have low immunity and sometimes they don't develop immunity despite getting the vaccine. That doesn't mean everybody should stay away from the vaccine! | ||
