Personally, I feel this region is the most regressive in the current world. I was surprised to say the least that indian government declared a day of mourning for Saudi King's death. Hamid Ansari, the VP was sent to pay his respects, which is a good will gesture. and a very humble when at that. Why the day of mourning? To the ordinary citizen the king is an unknown, to say the least. The only things I could think of is Geo and Oil politics. Indian government has over the years forged a strong friendhsip with the King to the extent that I once read news that Sauds will keep supplying whatever quantity and quality india needs even if they fall behind on payments. Is there any else to it? Personally, this is one place i never want to visit even as a layover during flight travels, or do any business with. |
