20% of your earnings is a lot to invest with out prior experience. Not sure if you have a 401K or not and you plan on investing this in addition to that. If you don't have a 401k I would suggest you to start from their. If you already have one and plan on investing in addition to that just follow the daily stock thread for 1 year.
