Babu's logic doesnt cut ice. Our population is showing no signs of negative growth in the first place. Except the elite urban crowd, 80% of populations still has 2 or more kids. What JP is stressing is bettering quality & productivity of population at disposal instead of increasing the quantity. It is like increasing number of engineering seats exponentially which has today lead to unemployment instead of focussing on quality and employable graduates. If population was sole criteria, little countries like UK and Germany wudnt hav dominated the world. And as far as examples of Japan & China go, they are a generation ahead of us. They have complete clarity on why they want more population and what could be their eventual productivity. They have efficient systems in place to ensure that. We have 2.5% global land mass, but 18% population. We have world's largest mass of youn adults, mostly unskilled & poorly educated. 3/8 kummu JP kummu.. CBN's (CM of AP) call to young couples to have more children is outrageous. AP's birth rate is 17.5, & population is growing at 1%PA. 1/8 India's population is 1.3 billion, & growing at 1.5%.
