brother I bought 42 inch TV from germany by AI flight. i have checked it as fragile item and as one of my 2 baggages (each bag 23 kg). I have managed at customs in delhi.. they have asked 10k charge..but i have managed with 3k with out bill.so that 3k went into his pocket. calculation goes like this.. if u r tv cost 1lk (in INR)then if its 4 years old then they will take out 4 years depreciation (its 40%..10% depreciation per year).. so itys 1 lk - 40 k = 60 k.. noww tak is 36% of 60 k =21k.. if u pay 21 k..then they will give bill...if u do not need bill then u can manage with 5k.. | ||

TVs are entitled for 35 per cent of the custom duty.....The custom people also have a manual based on which they will evaluate your TV and you may have to pay 35 percent of that value, which ever is higher.... But, if you got the TV on a deal or discount, you can argue that you wanna pay only 35% of what you paid.... TVs not in duty free allowance anymore..... A guy who opens the door and gets shot. Bro.. 40 inch dimensions are more than allowed dimensions in baggage policy. also i did not understand the second part "if u are going by flight which allow 2 pcs of luggage then no luggage charge" you mean instead of 2 pcs..i can just take this 1pc as luggage?(or did i many thing?) Did any one take a TV to India(flight) is it even suggestible.. i see max we can take is 32 inch TV.. but i see a huge price difference in India and US for 32 inch TV as well(smart LED tv).. any suggestions please |
