My son did not crawl or move.. Till he was almost 1yr.. In 5 days (we were on a trip to dc) he crawled, sat on his own and started standing and trouble started (chasing him).. Before that we were running to doctors saying he is not moving.. Till he was around 4 he used to keep running round and round.. Put something in the middle ge would go under/top but still keep running in circles.. In kindergarten they thought he had ADHD... Now he is 14.. Cool dude, smart kid, athlete.. Some will take time.. he will be two next month vunkl. I know for his age he is doing pretty good now, but three months back things were different. there was tremendous difference in the last 45 days. things concerning were no words, not even "amma", no eye contact, very few facial expressions. but it changed recently, he has eye contact when speaking to him, and is expressive with face. he never called his mom or me for anything. but he started saying other words now. he doesnt initiate verbal communication yet. | ||

yes he responds to me in all most all situations now, and to an extent to his mother. recent ga day care teachers and to some of my friends as well. he has started saying words and his picked up by quite a bit in the last one month. In last one month, he started identifying colors, numbers, shapes and alphabets. therapy sessions start ayyayi, but they are in preliminary stages and he seems to have changed from initial diagnosis plans, so mostly malli analysis untundhi ani expecting. Food and Physically no issues, he eats almost anything given to him, and his growth curve is good. he is the smallest in his class by age, but size wise he is the biggest. he recently learnt to show disaproval by pushing things away. earlier, if he dint like something, he would just go away from there. | ||

Yes, but we tried many things too like ABA, gfcf diet etc.. but I don't believe any of them are the reason. I also believe that he wouldn't have these issues in early stages if we were in India. I think some environmental issues are causing these things for immigrants here in US | ||

Until my son was 2.5 years old he had developmental issues like not started talking, not responding etc.. Upon his pediatrician reference we took him to top childrens hospital who specializes on this subject. There they diagnosed him with autism. I was shocked and shattered. Almost from the same time I saw tremendous improvement in him. However upon doctors advise we went to ABA therapy but we stopped it after 8 months as we thought it is not necessary. Now he is 7.5 years. He is very good in his academics. He plays good soccer, basketball. He completed his ice skating lessons and started playing hockey. He is red belt in Taekwondo we had him diagnosed again 2 months back and they removed him from asd spectrum. They say now he does not have any developmental issues. I never believed he has any problem so it did not surprise me but gave me relief | ||

A roller coaster sort of year, lot of good things and a bunch of not so good things transpired. There were not much plans coming in to the year, supposed to be an year where I would relax a bit, but that was not the case! Professionally, missed a good opportunity, hoping to take up one last challenge at my current work place and move on. Sort of a much needed proof to myself! With the kid it was a great year, although with bouts of concern, but towards the end of year much of the fears have faded away, as he seems to be making a lot of progress from where he was six months back. DB wise, was not much in the DB, occasional rants here and there, contributed nothing much to anyone or anything here Out side DB, social life is stagnant Targets achieved - moved on to the new role at work, lost 24 pounds(target 25 pounds), kick start on investing in stocks Targets missed - Half Marathon, couple of pet projects i wanted to work on. Best movie watched - Bangalore Days there were some good books I read. One thing I did very bad, was time management, hopefully will get better at it next year. Glad a crazy year is coming to an end. |
