I went to a local movie theater for "Happy Days" movie.. yukkkk didnt like the movie since I stated hating the theater even before the movie started. After few years, went to another Telugu movie(Life is beautiful).. yuk and yuk again.. made that was my last movie in US. Those premier theaters in India are real good.. Jagdamba, Chitralaya.. Wow..!! In those days, saw "Prema Paavuralu" again and again just for that 5.1 Dolby Sound system in Ranjani theater... | ||

I have being to 4-5 movies in last 3 years in US. And all these movies were after 1 week of release and hence it was empty house. We could and sit wherever we want and hence did not realize so many loopholes in the US theaters. Yesterday we went to watch PK at AMC, NJ and had nightmare experiences : 1. NO SEAT Numbers - Unlike sports events, theatre events, musical concerts none of the movies have SEAT NUMBERS to tickets. PK even after crossing 2 weeks, is running packed houses. We went for 9:15 pm show, but the hall was full..I had to go to guest service to show my tickets saying that I have tickets booked online for 9:15 pm show. He asked us to stand a long queue awaiting for 9:45 pm show in other screen. When we entered the hall, it was like an erra bus..In every seat people have put handki's, ladies hand bags saying they have blocked for thier families/friends. We got the last but 3rd row from screen. One Tamil family had a big fight with Gujju family as they removed the handki from seat and made their kids sit. There were one or two empty seats spread across the hall. Poor Gujjus, had to scatter and sit everywhere. WHY CANNOT they have seat numbers allocated which will help us choose our seats like we have in India multiplexes ?? 2. Trailers : We used to have news reel or trailers for forth-coming movies before the show timming in India. The trailers of all new movies started at 9:45 pm and went on till 10:10 pm. The actual movie started only at 10:10 (20 mmins after the stated time). WHY CANNOT they have these trailers during Interval ?? 3. NO Interval : Movie run time was 2:30 hrs with trailers the actual time in theatre was close to 3 hrs and this was without an interval. WHY CANNOT they have intervals for 10 mins and show trailers during this time, which will make the movie experience a good one rather than seeing it without a break (as if we need to complete in a marathon way). I really miss Devi 70/Sudarshan 35 mm in Hyd X-Rds, Jagadhamba in Vizag, Ram Raj in Tirupathi, Devi/Satyam complex in Chennai..Good old days with huge cut-outs of our fav heros and true cinema going experience.. I happen to realize during our recent NJ DB meet that some of them have contacts with US movie distribution/exhibition. Will be nice if they get these changes done atleast for Indian movies to avoid bad experience. b/w PK is a good movie but not as great as their previous movies like Munna Bhai Series & 3 Idiots. Hinduism being highly tolerant unlike other religions, the makers have taken undue advantage to highlight the pitfalls of Hinduism as against the forced conversions in Christanity & Madrassas brain washing done in Islam. |
