âWill go Andhra Pradesh way in sand miningâ Dec 12, 2014 - FAISAL MALIK | In order to restart sand mining in the state, the state government has decided to follow the footsteps of Andhra Pradesh. An IAS officer will be sent to study the new policy to implement the same in Maharashtra for sand mining, said revenue minister Eknath Khadse in the state Assembly on Thursday. He also said that the state had also got a positive opinion from the Attorney General of India on this matter. Replying to the queries of legislators in the lower House during question hour, Mr Khadse said that sand would be made available in the state for all 12 months. âWe will be coming up with a policy adopted by the Andhra Pradesh which was able to increase its revenue after implementing it. âThey have also succeeded in curbing incidents of illegal sand mining,â the revenue minister said. He said that the government had also sought the opinion of an Attorney General of India with the help of Union environment minister Prakash Javadekar. âWe have also sent a proposal of sand mining in 21 districts to the Union environment ministry for clearance ,â Mr Khadse said. |
