Chennai: Superstar Rajinikanth-starrer "Lingaa," scheduled for release on his birthday on December 12, is an "unauthorized copy" of a Telugu film starred by Chiranjeevi, a producer has told Madras high court. M/s Balaji Studios Private Ltd, Saligramam, Chennai, said it had purchased the Telugu film "Indra," starred by Chiranjeevi and Sonali Bindre. It said all rights of the film were purchased in 2010 and it intended to remake it in Tamil soon. Indra freemake ayithey sachindi gorre Noting that the film was about a man surviving the murders of his family members and his return and success in building a dam for the villagers, the producer said the storyline of "Lingaa" had been an unauthorised copy of "Indra." He wanted the high court to hold up the release of "Lingaa" till the copyright infringement issue was sorted out in the court. However, K S Ravikumar, director of "Lingaa," denied the allegations and said the case had been filed for publicity. Justice R Subbiah, before whom the matter came up for admission on Tuesday, adjourned the matter to December 12. |
