The petition says the Sena, after seeking the Opposition leaderâs post in the Assembly, engaged in âhorse-trading and merchandising activities for forming an alliance governmentâ with the BJP. As a no-confidence motion cannot be brought within six months of the government winning the trust vote and as the ruling party cannot be brought down to the Opposition benches during this period, the petition contends, the âopposition party cannot change its status within the same period to switch over to the ruling benches; that too for the sake of cabinet berthsâ. It further seeks framing of rules to prevent the Opposition leader from joining the cabinet in any capacity for the same period. |
