I live away from London and travel daily there. but if you are specific of the London cost. This breakdown if you are with family. here it is: Per Month two bed flat in zone 4: 1200 council tax: 100 Utilities: 200 for water + gas + electric Commutation: 200. Cineworld Unlimited card : 15 Sky or some TV : 50 GBP Mobile: 50 Calling to India : 15-20 ( I use facetime for most of purposes) Grossaries : 300 Eating out with family and friends : 200 Kids private school: dont dream of it if you are in 40-50K range Kids expenses: 100 for their weekly activities. Apart from that car tax, insurance, MOT, Petrol/Diesel costs extra.... If you stay away from London and travel daily, you may save around 100 but will spend more time and effort in commutation....
