Each state has 2 seats in the state - total 100 seats. Every 2 years ki 1/3rd of seats will go for election. 100 seats are divided into 3 classes Class I - 33 seats - last time Nov 2012 lo elections ayyayi, next in Nov 2018 Class II - 33 seats - ivi ivala jarugutunnayi. Next time in Nov 2020 Class III - 34 seats - last time Nov 2010, next in Nov 2016 Today was election for all of Class II seats - all 33 of them. Also, there were elections for 3 seats from Class III - Oklahoma, SC and Hawaii. They had election in 2010, but OK and SC senators resign chesaru and HI senator passed away. So aa 3 places ki ivala elections avutunnayi. Winners ki only 2 years ea untundi term. They will have to go for electioins again in 2016 with the rest of Class III.} | ||

India lo two legislative houses - LokSabha and Rajya Sabha. Called Parliament together US lo two houses - Senate and House - combined called as Congress Govt leader - India - Prime Minister, US - President There is a fundamental difference in how the govt leaders are selected. India lo, people will elect their representatives aka MPs. They will in turn, elect one of them as the leader. He/She will become the Prime Minister. So Prime Minster position is directly related to the number of seats in Lok Sabha. USA lo, people will directly elect the President. So President position is not dependent on the number of seats in the House or Senate. For example, House lo majority Republicans undi President Dem ayi undochu or vice versa. same thing applies at state level also. India lo we elect our MLAs and they will choose the CM. US lo people directly vote for their Governors. There is senate and house at each state level also. Just like Assembly in India. Currently the elections are going on for - Governors in some states - Senate seats in some states (similar to RajSabha) - House seats in some states (similar to LokSabha) - State House/Senate seats (similar to lower and upper houses in assembly hope that helps.. | ||
