Royyala_nayudu:

How Naiduâs govt minimized life loss in Hudhud?
It was a little village in West Godavari on Friday night. A VRO was sleeping for more than 2 hours but was awake by a phone call. It was from the Chief Ministerâs Office. âMake sure the low lying villages are evacuated. You will be responsible for every life lostâ message conveyed in a stern voice. The VRO got out in to the village and almost was pleading or hurrying them up to move to the nearest relief camps (mostly government schools).
This is the similar scenario in almost all the districts from Srikakulam to West Godavari. Naidu who was known as the best man in disaster management almost kept all the government employees on toes and made sure the life loss is bare minimum. There were criticisms that Naidu was sitting in Hyderabad comfortably, but there is a rational reasoning as well. âHyderabad currently has a good network of communication to all the places in the state. It is impossible to setup the network in Vishakapatnam on war footing. Also presence of the Chief Minister will divert the attention of the officials from the relief work. So, CM chose to remain in Hyderabad till the cyclone crossed the coastâ, said a source in CMO.
Roads were closed and power was cut down by the government in several places so as to make sure people do not come out of their houses and risk their lives. The lives lost so far are of the people who neglected governmentâs warnings and came out. The people affected in the cyclone as well has some very good words to say about Naiduâs disaster management. âCyclones are common in this part of the world. But we have more life loss even for smaller cyclones than Hudhud. The way the government handled the relief works made the differenceâ, says every commoner of the affected region. Now the onus is on the restoration and rehabilitation work.
