same here Rao garu..actually 1981 nunchi..

Actual ga naku leelaga gurthu - so am not sure if it was 1980 or 1981, it was definitely the Borg - McEnroe final. They played both in 1980 and 1981. But i am inclined to believe that it was 1980.

Sonyvaio:

5 sets chudali ante Aggasi vs Ivan

That would not even rank in the top 10 at Wimbledon, leave aside all Grand Slams. There are so many other exciting 5 sets at Wimbledon:

Becker vs Edberg - 1989, Borg - McEnroe 1980, Nadal - Federer 2007/ 2008, Federer - Roddick 2009, Federer - Djokovic - 2013, Ivanisevic - Rafter - 2002

If you count the other Slams, there are many many others too - most pre-eminent being the Djoker - Nadal 2012 Australian 6 hour epic..

1986 because of becker

Do you mean 1985.

I have been watching tennis since Wimbledon 1980 and i have seen some stunning matches, the greatest being the Wimbledon 2008 final but no journey has been more challenging and nerve wracking than Edberg's run in 1992 US Open.

For folks interested in the 2008 Wimby final, do read Jon Wertheim's Strokes of Genius...

In my view - the 1992 US Open. Edberg's last hurrah was at the US Open in 1992 and to this day it remains the greatest Grand Slam championship in my mind. Three 5 sets in the Round of 16, QF and SF and in each of these he was a break down in the 5th set. The SF against Chang was a 5 and half hour match - all of the first 4 sets went to 7-5 or 7-6. It is still the longest US Open match in Open history. And then he came out next day to win against Sampras in the Final in 4 sets.

There might be greater individual matches like the 2008 Wimby Final or the 1989 French Open SF between Chang and Lendl or the Borg-McEnroe 1980 match etc...but for the most inspired, amazing run through the initial rounds till the championships, for me - none to beat Edberg in 1992...
