US Based First Solar Making India Debut In Telangana, With 45 MW Plant August 5, 2014 10:21 pm Biggest US Solar panel maker & developer âFirst Solarâ is making itâs India entry in Telangana with a 45MW PV plant. The facility, which will be the companyâs 1stproject in the country, will supply electricity to Southern Power Distribution Company of Telangana State Limited under a 20-year power purchase agreement. The PPA has been signed and project will be live next year. The plant will be spread across two sites in the Mahabubnagar district and is expected to go live by May 2015. The capacity will generate enough to power 92,000 homes in Telangana âThe state of Telangana has an energy deficit that demands immediate creation of incremental generation capacity,â said First Solar country India head Sujoy Ghosh. âThe excellent solar resource in the state combined with our thin film module technology that is ideally suited for hot climates like India allows us to bid tariffs that bring solar energy pricing to parity with diesel/gas and potentially imported coal.â added Mr Ghosh. |
