Geological Survey of India has prepared a note on this issue and their earthquake geology division indicated the seriousness of the issue. Even the IIIT Hyderabad researchers, who are conducting studies on Vijayawada, stated that there are about 26 faults in and around Vijayawada within a radius of 300 km. Speculations were strong that the capital city will be announced in between Vijayawada-Guntur and the land rates touched sky high. The vulnerability of Vijayawada has become hot topic among the Indian researchers and most of them have confirmed that it's not an ideal thing to construct capital near the city.
