Will Dhoni come even closer in terms of craze with these icons? -- yes money...because of our volumes antunna antehy..... no matter what ronaldo and messi have done less for their country in terms of silverware.....Argentina not even confed cup....and portugal was a much better team in previous years of Louis figo (whom i dont like ).......they have dipped below their previous legends playing for their country......when ronald and messi are representing their countries....Where as for dhoni (call it luck or whatever)......his reign bought in.....rankings....cups.....and that counts for domestic endorsements........and out market is high.... ronaldo and Messi play and live in spain.....and hardly play 6-7 matches for their country in a year (average)..... we can see how money is spinning for dhoni.....IPL ani cheppi manam world ni mana daggariki theppinchukuntaam..... ODIs most imp agreed, Tests least imp ante inka em cheptaam. batting wise he will be in top 5 in ODIs. probably top 30 in tests. so calling him the best of his gen on batting alone is debatable. not considering T20 as a format, T20I very few games to consider. just checked, dhoni is not even in top 10 in T20I | ||

Tests are only one of 3 formats and arguably the least important in this era. All formats considered, Dhoni the batsman is definitely one of the best in this gen, you put the wicket-keeping and captaincy and he becomes the single most valuable player of the last decade.... Why not? Only guy to captain a WC team in ODI, T-20, Champions Trophy AND test No.1 He's more than earned it. Dhoni is the face of cricket, just like SRT was before him and Richards, Sobers and Bradman were before them.... Ofcourse all of them (except possibly Bradman)are not perfect, but on a relative scale they are a couple of nothces ahead of the next guy in their era!
