This Industrial park in Monterrey was purely non-IT. Pepsi had their R&D Dept, Caterpillar had one, there is a 3D printing section where one can get some fast prototyping done..i was amazed, this is what we should aspire to if we want to become an industrial powerhouse.. | ||

Govt has allocated 7000+ crores for Smart cities in this budget for a start .. and by the end of the year (FY2014) .. a little difference will be visible .. and thank heavens .. monsoon has picked up well now .. atleast that will reduce the concerns of inflation (already supply side strategy is getting fine tuned) .. In a lot of sectors FM has given enough indications to where his government stands and what the priorities are so it's unto the individual ministries to pick up on that. The days of Finance ministry spoon feeding other ministries are done, implementation and fund raising has to done at their level. An underwhelming budget, the corporates because of their BJP love are not able to come out and openly say it, though a few have been using some euphemisms for calling it what it is. Just an incremental budget, with nothing that would move the needle for the economy. The first 2 years are going to be the strongest years for the govt. where their political bandwidth is going to be high. Then it will be UP elections or Bihar elections and some other mid term elections. 4th year is going to be only 1 year before the next generals, so nothing will get done there. 5th year is only going to be an interim. Using silly excuses like being in govt. for only 45 days etc is not going to pass muster. Even the UPA despite its weak hold over govt. in 2004 got the MRNEGA (leave aside the merits of it) in their first budget, again within 6 weeks of getting elected. Bullet trains, 100 smart cities are all good on paper, it is like CBN's Singapore pipe dream but what are the cost implications, resourcing, etc. Yesterday Swapan Das Gupta was tying himself up in knots in Hindustan Times trying to defend the budget on ideological grounds. My only hope comes from the fact that nowadays many things happen outside the budget, and the budget is a bit of a redundant exercise and the govt. can push its agenda outside the Finance bill too. So let's wait and see. | ||

Budget bagundi .. I liked it .. Poor and middle classes ki .. there is so much promise in it .. Agriculture/Manufacturing sectors lo job/wealth creation ki kavalsina steps teesukunnaru .. at the same time tax cuts for middle classes and encouraging people with tax rebates for housing loan payers which encourages RE sector as well ..
