They gave up their style of play post 82...Scolari just accelerated the decline and threw them off the cliff...the actual Joga Bonito is being played by the Dutch school exported to Barca and then sent to Bayern...Scolari's aggressiveness and tactics were just shocking...his comments before the tournament were very arrogant, he made the team depend on Neymar and was actually proud of that rather than say that there is more to team than a Nike hyped just-born. The fouling and aggression against Columbia in the QFs were not what some nostalgia inspired journalists might have envisioned through their rose tinted glasses. But this is the Brazil most of us have grown up with. Carlo Perreira to Dunga to Scolari have kept adding to this trend. Even the hyped Neymar came across as more of a showman with his only goals coming against Croatia and Cameroon. A bit more modesty, planning, team spirit might have save them this massacre. |
