A senior DRDO official was stabbed allegedly by a juvenile âpickpocketâ while the boy was being chased by a group of people in the crowded Charminar area in Hyderabad on Sunday. Regional Director of a Koraput-based DRDO unit R.K. Satpathy was immediately rushed to a government hospital and his condition was stated to be out of danger, police said. The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) said the incident has nothing to do with âDRDO affairsâ. âSatpathy, who came for shopping in the Charminar area, was attacked with a knife by the juvenile who was fleeing from a group of persons who were beating him,â ACP (Charminar Division) D. Venkat Narsaiah told PTI. âThe teenager, a pickpocket and who seems to be addicted to sniffing whitener, was chased and caught by a group of persons near Charminar area and was being beaten up. The DRDO official was standing near, and the boy, while fleeing, attacked him,â the ACP said based on preliminary investigation. The boy managed to escape and efforts were on to nab him, police said. âThe DRDO official was immediately rushed to a government hospital and his condition was out of danger,â the senior police official said. The Regional Director of Regional Centre for Military Airworthiness was on a visit here, said Ravi Kumar Gupta, Director, Directorate of Public Interface, DRDO. The incident has nothing to do with âDRDO affairsâ, he said.
