Derecognise Parties Encouraging Defections YSR Congress party leader and Nellore MP Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy on Wednesday demanded de-recognition of political parties which encouraged political defectors. He said the democratic traditions are becoming a laughing stock due to the immoral activities of opportunistic political parties. In his maiden speech after being elected MP in the just-concluded elections, Mekapati requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take necessary action against the parties that are failing to implement their promises mentioned in the manifestos after coming to power. He also said, "I request the Union government to kindly ensure all the promises made in AP Reorganization Act-2014 along with the assurances given by the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh."
