New Delhi: Another high-table diplomatic meeting is on the cards with Prime Minister Narendra Modi accepting US President Barack Obama's invitation for a meeting in late September. The dates of the meeting to be held in Washington DC are yet to be finalised.

"A date was offered by the US side for the meeting and both the countries are working on it," official sources said.

The meeting is likely to take place after Modi attends the United Nation General Assembly meeting in New York around September 26. However, the Washington has proposed September 30 as the date for the meeting

The meeting will mark the end of the 9-year chill between the US and Modi. The invitation for the meeting came during the congratulatory call to Modi by Obama after the Lok Sabha election results were out.

Congress leader, Shashi Tharoor who has been vocal in praising Modi, backed the PM's visit to the US. "Today what happened with the invitation is something we are in support. As an Indian, I would not want anyone from any foreign country to insult my PM. The question of a Visa does not arise today as this is not his personal visit," Tharoor said.
