The new state of Andhra Pradesh is all set to get Special Category status effective from June 8.

AP shall be the 12th state to receive this status.

Advantages:

1. Major chunk in grants allocated by Centre
2. Grant portion 90% and Loan portion 30%
3. Excise Duty concessions.

Good to see the first of the benefits trickling in.
