Telangana details: Our projections here are only for parliamentary elections and not for the assembly elections although the respondents were asked for both the responses The one big X factor for the 30th April poll was the dual response of a large number of voters who had voted for many other parties in the assembly election but had voted for Modi in the Lok Sabha election – 18% of TRS voters, 6% of Congress voters and 8% of YSRC voters have voted for BJP-TDP in the MP elections Due to high degree of cross voting, BJP alliance may under perform in the assembly elections and have much better traction in terms of MPs In Telanagana at least, the alliance with TDP has hurt BJP in a big way as voters were inherently reluctant to vote for Naidu’s party and had BJP gone alone it could have won far more seats TRS is emerging as the single largest party and may even come closer to a majority in the state assembly Congress voters are reluctant and the party may not reap any benefit of creating a last minute state, especially in terms of Lok Sabha tally |
