Periyar and Ambedkar are not in same league. As different as chalk and cheese. Ambedkar did have his differences with Hindutva thoughts, the idea of nationalism etc when he started .. but as time passed by, Ambedkar did evolve a lot, and by the time of his death (1956) .. he was more closer to Jana Sangh than Congress and Nehru, due to his thoughts. Even for Brahmin supporters of BJP - Ambedkar may be a little uncomfortable to handle. But thats more due to ignorance of Ambedkar's life as an entirety and as someone here correctly pointed it out, he was a prisoner of his exclusive Dalit icon image than a more liberal nationalist. Lastly, even conservative and orthodox Brahmins need a reality check as to who they are supporting in politics - Congress and its ilk stand for minority appeasement and to be more specific, abrahamic appeasement and thats far away from the idea of India. not anti-hindu, more anti-brahmin. he realized that all non-brahmins need to be at the same level as brahmins and pushed hard for sanskrit being democratized. he wanted sanskrit to be the national language. also his push towards budhism was because he considered that as the only force that ever threatened brahmins. the rise of Modi can coincide well with the adoption of ambedkar's ideals. a good move for BJP. Thokkalodhi, His criticism of hinduism - this is accepted by hindus and pseudos His ctiricism of Islam - not accepted by muslims and not accepted by pseudos so far he is pigeon holed as a dalit leader(mostly by cong and cong-like parties) .....i am saying this can be changed and he can be made acceptable to the so-called upper caset hindus | ||

periyar lite le gaani ambedkar can easily be owned by BJP......his arguments can be used for things like UCC Ambedkar, in the same book, has severely criticized Gandhi for his duplicity and double standards he adopted on Hindu killings v/s muslim killings. He writes, âBut Mr. Gandhi has never protested against such murders. Not only have the Musalmans not condemned these outrages but even Mr. Gandhi has never called upon the leading Muslims to condemn them. He has kept silent over them. Any person could have said that this was too heavy a price for Hindu-Moslem unity. But Mr. Gandhi was so much obsessed by the necessity of establishing Hindu-Moslem unity that he was prepared to make light of the doings of the Moplas and the Khilafats who were congratulating them. He spoke of the Moplas as the "brave God-fearing Moplas who were fighting for what they consider as religion and in a manner which they consider as religious ". | ||
