If you are using TurboTax, you will the option of filing multiple states and it will questions separate for you and your wife ..
For ex: if you lived in IL and your wife in NJ , you file both state taxes

hubby resident alien..wifey non resident..
and we can file jointly as residents right?

and if right,

can we do it electronically in turbotax.. online search chesthe it says we have to give declaration for the 1yr we do it this way...then if we file electronically where/how to give such a declaration?
