Heineken:10k in growth, 10K in value , 10K dgi and 10K in dow components. that way i only have to keep a close eye on my growth stocks coz they re volatile and concentrate little less on dgi , and value. and once a year on dow components.

Heineken:how well do you think it will work ? will it work at all ?
Will not work. You cannot add mechanics or a mechanized system to the game. This is not an exact science. This kind of logic was extremely criticized in "The Intelligent Investor". It was almost exactly like this. I am telling you...stocks are simple. Don't overcomplicate it. It is as simple as the following ; Every successful investment in a stock has three components to 1) The price you pay 2) What happens to the company between 1 and the following step 3) The day you sell There are a lot of smart people in the market, but you can find bargains (your goal is to obviously maximize the distance between price in step three and price in step 1. Your goal should be to find undervalued companies - sound businesses with good management hit by bad sentiment/ irrationality/economic factors. Or, you should find a business that can scale - it should go from small cap to large cap. Usually, Never ever buy if the PE is more than 30. Your minimum holding period for the process above should be at least 6 months. From August 13, I have caught at least 4 stocks which doubled or more using the logic above. The problem is that most were in India. USA is becoming too efficient....the logic still works in US markets but it is slower moving and difficult to find. that's why i'm going to focus on India. thoralo naa demat account tho soopista na thadaka bangarappa son of bangarraju - nephew of bangarnaidu - grandson of bangarswamy IV |

Heineken:why not invest in DOW itself
if i invest in dow then my portfolio perfromance will be the same as dow's performance. I think with my strategy I will beat dow's performance . and Yes dows components keep changing every year. so I will replace my old onces with the replaced ones so that i will have the top performers every year.yes i can divide my 10k in to parts for my initial investment . but once i reach my 10K target. i will not increase my contribution every year. i will just use the same money to buy/sell based on dow changes. My strategy is to build a stable portfolio. so i will not put all my money in only dow componets. I will devide my portfolio into lets say different groups like 10k in growth, 10K in value , 10K dgi and 10K in dow components. that way i only have to keep a close eye on my growth stocks coz they re volatile and concentrate little less on dgi , and value. and once a year on dow components. 27 EROS TFI Pride Sharabha Sharabha |

DOW components performance is cyclical, so top performers this year may not be top performers in the next year. Rather why not invest in DOW itself, year over year.. and again year over year is very long for a doller cost average, rather divide your 10k in to 12 parts and then invest each part on a monthly basis |

how is this strategy ? lets say i have 10K , every year pick top 5 stocks with highest div yield from 30 dow components and invest 2k in each of these stocks. for 2014 top 4 are T, VZ , MRK,INTC,PFE . lets say in 2015 MCD replaced INTC. then i would sell all my stake in INTC and and buy MCD for the same amount. how well do you think it will work ? will it work at all ? 27 EROS TFI Pride Sharabha Sharabha |
