The incident came to light when a merchant refused to take the note from a beneficiary when she went to exchange it. Upset with the distribution of fake notes, voters alerted the media. The voters in 21st ward in the town claimed that some YSRCP leaders came to their houses late on Saturday night and gave them Rs 2,000 per vote.
