#3 is incorrect. A medallion and a license are two different things in the taxi industry. A MEDALLION is auctioned off(there is a limited number of them) and they have sold for as much as a million, but generally range around the $800k area. One medallion allows one taxi cab to be on the street. And there can be many operators of a single taxi cab. To OPPERATE a taxi, you need what I have which is a hack license. With taking the course, paying fees and whatnot it cost roughly $500 when all was said and done. Not a million.
