Happened to watch Legend tonight at Prasadz. After recent debacles of Bala & fate of Dammu, had very low expectations for Legend. My view on the same: The Good - Older Bala's Characterization, Jagapati's Look, High Voltage Action Scenes & One Liners. Not so Good - Bala still attempting to play youth, slight drags in the 2nd Half Analysis 1st Half - Movie starts off well with good flashback episodes. Young Bala's intro is good. Brahmi's comedy is ok. Action scenes are vry good. There are no real lags except the 3 songs crammed into 1st half. Pre- Interval Episode is good. Songs are decent. 2nd Half - Post interval episode is very good with a powerful Intro of older Bala. Following episodes are gripping with terrific one liners. However, the moment Bala's family scenes are involved, pace slackens. Though they are decent, just felt a bit lengthy. Train Action episode was excellent. Climax is ok with a Political Twist to it. BGM is good. Overall - The inevitable comparision, would say it is on par with Simha as far as the overall feel is concerned. Production values are much better than Simha and is much more action packed with Simha feeling more crisper. Boya simply knows Mass Action & Hero/Villain Elevation very well. Some of the action episodes were too good. However, it is time Bala stopped doing younger roles and leave it to Jr/Mokshu. Luckily at no point did the Director make a comedian out of Bala like many of his recent movies. His character was handled maturedly just like in Simha. Jagapathi's look was the talk of the movie. His Get up with blood shot eyes was menacing. Could have given more depth to the character however towards the climax. If you remotely liked Simha, definetely worth a watch, otherwise dont bother going. Bottomline - Feast for mass action movie lovers. Did I enjoy it - Oh Yes! Rating - 3.5/5 |
