Though we have a reason to be aggrieved over the unjust events over the past few months and days, we should use this as a watershed moment to rejuvenate the residual AP. We should still get a Special Status State for AP, that can be a huge kick to moving to an industrialised state from an agragrian one in Coastal and Rayalaseema. States like Uttarakhand have got hundreds of industries due to this special status. That apart, our relationship to Hyderabad will continue as Gujarat's with Mumbai. Though Mumbai went to Maharashtra even after so many years, the Marathis do not dominate either industry or business. In fact you will be hard pressed to find any Marathi industries. If you travel in Bombay local first class, you will find very few Marathis though they dominate the second class compartments. We will continue to occupy such a position in Hyderabad. That is not going to change one bit. Let us continue to kick ass in Hyderabad. We need not set up another big city in AP, it might not even be possible. But Gujarat too does not have any big cities but it is richer than Maharashtra (if you exclude the riches of Mumbai). And it has more bustling medium class towns than Maharashtra. Gujarat has Surat, Rajkot, Baroda, Bharuch, Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Jamnagar. Gujarat has more international cricketing venues than any other state, that shows its balanced development. AP has the second largest coastline (after Gujarat) with a better climatic condition that Gujarat. It is going to be power surplus. In fact there is nothing that can hold us back. The only thing that we need to fear about is ourselves - we need to have a change in mindset and get out of our get-rich quick mindset and look at building institutions and companies of lasting value than companies that are just out there to swindle public. In the equity market, there is a Hyderabad/ AP discount on trading multiples as there is a lack of trust in our promoters and companies. Once we break free of that, there is no stopping....vayinchandayya bhajantrilu... |
