We have experienced two extortion incidents in the last 60 days which targeted XXXX employees from India. Please cascade this message throughout your organization as we work to inform employees and help them protect themselves. Message to Employees XXXX employees in XXXXX, originally from other countries, have been the target of extortion attempts. Please cascade this message throughout your organization to help employees protect themselves. What happened? The extortionist impersonated an IRS agent and told the XXXX employee that they were being tracked for making illegal money transfers out of the state. The IRS impersonator further stated that the employee was required to pay a fee as penalty, or face legal ramifications. What can I do? If an employee or their family member receives a call like this they should: · Provide no information to the caller; · Notify their manager of the incident; | ||
