If your cruise is going back from Skagway it is like a roundtrip. You go all the way to the Canada border and come back. The others would not work for you.

You can do Glacier landing either from talkeetna or Denali. It will take atleast 3 hours.
White water rafting is good. They give you life jackets and they are there.
There are ATV ides during midnight.

As i said prior try the train at Skagway(Yukon rail Route)
it is beautiful

Yes - I did make a note of that - there are different duration train trips - is there a particular one I should pick ?

Also Glacier landing out of Talkeetna or Denali ? How long is the trip - I was planning to do the white water rafting - hubby is a lil nervous cos we do not swim, the kids do swim - but i want to go anyway :-)

Simba:

That is an option - but all the reviews I read recommended the Seward rail trip over the Denali one and the Denali train ride takes way too long ...

So time wise to come back from Denali to Anc, take the morning train to Seward , do the Kenai fjord cruise and take the park connection coach back to ANC hotel by 9 pm and take the whittier shuttle out ..

If I had know the Whittier Seward trip was such a hassle I would have booked a cruise out of Seward - Oh well ...atleast there is a fall back option of doing the roundtrip from ANC :-)

Anand_n:

How about if you pick up the car in Anchorage and drive south to cover Seward, Kenai Fjords and back to Anchorage and drop the car off. For north bound, you can do round trip scenic train to Denali. Once you are back at Anchorage, it is well connected to Whittier with shuttle services:

Thank you :-) Vancouver to Seattle on a Monday - disembarking on Monday morning and flying out of Seattle - was initially planning to take the bus from Vancouver cruise port to Seatac but that might be risky if we miss the early bus - so thinking of renting a car and driving down..

Simba:

Checked the options last night again and asked for a quote from a coach company in Seward - but if that does not work out the fallback is to come back to anchorage stay the night and take the cruise connection from ANC to Whittier - only hesitating cos we waste an evening but the guided drive to Whittier via portage may be worth it

I think Alaska rail Road has bus service from seward to whittier
Not sure.

Take the Glacier landing in Denali or Denali Flyover
If your ship stops in Skagway do the train journey

you might have booked day cruises (Glaciers) in Seward, right? See if they can help out.

Ippudu kastam anujunta, but if you could squeeze a day for Point Barrow, you wouldn't repent.

Nice planning. Memu cruise teesukoledu but koncham reverse lo vellam.

Flew into Anchorage, took scenic train to Denali. Spent 2 days there and took train further to Fairbanks. A day trip flight to Point Barrow and drove to Valdez, Whittier, Seward and back to Anchorage. 9 day trip was awesome.

Seward to Whittier oka 1.5 hour drive untundi, so you need to arrange in Seward.

Sodi:

what are looking for the agent to do for you?
Seward journey is worth taking.
can you tell me if your cruise starts from Anchorage?
How many days do you want to spend there?

Thank you!
Cruise starts from Whittier ..Flying into Anchorage -driving straight to Denali - 1.5 day in Denali , drive back to Anchorage , train to Seward , Kenai Fjords Cruise, then spend the night in Seward and board cruise from Whittier next day anukuntunnam ..

Was looking for Agent to do hotel bookings and some tours in Denali /Seward..looks like they have block bookings in hotels that are not available online Alaska tours and travels gave me a quote - just trying to check if there are others :-)

Also problem with taking the train to Seward - there does not seem to be any decent transportation between Seward and Whitier - any thooughts on that ?

Has anyone used an booking agent in Alaska that they liked ? Trying to plan a precruise land trip...

Also any one found any of the cooupon books useful - the Toursaver or the Northern lights one ?

Is the Anchorage - Seward train journey worth taking ?

TIA
