Great points, but Borg not being allowed to play? That's new to me. It was his choice not to go. Borg is definitely the greatest STAR to have played tennis. Game-wise, Federer and Laver and Sampras would take him down on fast courts, and Nadal on clay. Murray, we included because we believe he will get to that 6 slams. My preview for the Qatar Open

Murray is not worth comparing at this point of time. Let him earn another 5 slams. |

Tampa_boy:GOAT
Bjorn Borg is the real GOAT in my opinion. He was not allowed to play AO Also he retired after his first loss at wimbledon. If he has put his ego aside+ if he was allowed to participate at AO (given that it was grass in those days), He would have achieved 20+ slams. If stats is the measure, He falls behind Mc Enroe, Sampras, Fed and Nadal. |

Oh... Ok, but I think an early meeting would help the lower ranked player than the top player. The top players keep zoning and towards the final, Federer/Nadal will be monsters! Fed has not lost a GS final to anyone other than Nadal and Delpotro [Delpotro beat him only once] Nadal has lost GS finals to Djokovic/Fed only. Djokovic has lost GS finals to Fed/Murray/Rafa Murray has lost to Fed/Djokovic only My preview for the Durban Test Match

I actually meant that 17-32 players can take on the higher seeds from 3rd round onwards, there by giving them a chance to play in higher rounds. I see his point of top seeds not wanting to peak in lower rounds, which will help 17-32 (if only 16 seeds are allowed) to potentially upset them. |

Yes, the lower seeds can catch the top seeds in the early rounds, which may not be to the liking of the higher seeds - think of it as a batsman coming into bat. Going back to 16 seeds may help break the tri-poly or quadra-poly in tennis. My preview for the Durban Test Match

Doesn't that also mean the 16-32 seeded players can play the top seeds in the higher rounds, thereby giving chance for those players to move up? |

One of the most analytical articles on a serious issue that may be a factor in the Big four domination. The guy Toby is terrific at analysing and presenting stuff. http://sportzcosmos.com/2013/12/25/to-bye-or-not-to-bye-part -i/ My preview for the Durban Test Match
