movie opening day rajamouli sir interview Maryada Ramanna - a comedy thriller on Rayalaseema hospitality: SS Rajamouli SS Rajamouli said, “I was supposed to direct a film for this banner long time back. I took an advance of 2 lacs and 116 rupees. I directed many films later and now I got an opportunity to work for this banner. I am changing my route and directing this movie. It doesn’t mean that it’s an art movie. I am also incapable of doing love stories. This movie is going to be a comedy thriller. My friend Vara Mullapudi narrated me this story line and I liked it. I felt that Sunil would be an apt choice. This film has the backdrop of Rayalaseema. It has nothing to do with factionism. Rayalaseema is known for it’s hospitality. The hospitality of Rayalaseema is the main theme of this movie. We are contemplating on titling this movie as Maryada Ramanna. Though Sunil’s role in this movie is serious, there will be generation of ample comedy from his seriousness.†| ||

Myfirstshow : Tell us about your Maryada Ramanna story? Did you write this story out of your interest or by force of any one? SS.Kanchi : Maryada Ramanna is completely a comedy entertainer on Rayalaseema back drop and we made the characterization as peculiar and interesting. Actually one day Rajmouli said that he wants to make a comedy film and he explained the point of the film then I had written a story regarding the theme. After that he listened to the entire story and he agreed to make it as a film. Myfirstshow : In future do you want to write the stories for other director or is it only for Rajamouli? SS.Kanchi : No, I will write for all the directors. If any director approached me for a story then definitely I will write for him. Myfirstshow : How many months it took to complete �Maryada Ramanna� story? SS.Kanchi : Actually, I believe that a story is completed when the entire shooting of the film is done, because we are going to modify the story in the shooting time also. When I calculate like that it took me nearly one year, it was six months on story writing and six months on shooting. Even in the last day of shooting we made some changes | ||

SSKanchi gari aanimutyam Maryada Ramanna is a different plot point on Rajamouli's career graph. How did you manage to convince him with the story? Actually, it is Nandi's idea and not mine. Even before Magadheera was completed, he felt that he needed to come out of the mould and thus announced that he'd make a small film with Sunil, which surprised everyone. He then called me and asked me to prepare a story to suit the idea, but was not sure what kind of story would be the right blend of the image that Rajamouli as well as Sunil have! Several discussions followed before Mullapudi Vara (writer Mullapudi Venkata Ramana's son and director of Naa Alludu and Vishaka Express) came up with the basic idea of the film that we all liked, and I then developed the story into a romantic comedy and action based entertainer taking that aesthetic yet a flimsy idea | ||

You had worked only with your father’s stories so far. What is the reason behind going for Kanchi’s story this time? Though my father gave stories to all my earlier movies, Kanchi’s contribution in story department for those movies was notable. Kanchi has been working in story department of my films since Chatrapati. I used to be like monarch in our story discussions and I dominate everybody. Kanchi is the only guy who doesn’t succumb to my domination. He gave very good story for Maryada Ramanna. |
