Android and iOS mobile platforms based devices run on a GNU Core Kernel. A system that has a similar Unix flavored core kernel can connect easier without the need for Device Drivers. For development, you'd need a whole lot of connecting devices via USB cables, and plugging-and-playing around with them... Also, rich UI on these platforms, especially Android, has two streams - GPU driven, or OpenGL driven. OpenGL is graphics processing done by the Kernel in CPU. In the other stream, Kernel schedules the Canvas drawing functions on a separate GPU processor. Different manufacturers with different carrier tie-ups have different flavors of Android that are either GPU, or OpenGL graphics. Both Android and iOS platforms have extensive tools for visualizing rich UI development for both OpenGL and GPU graphics rendering in OS X platform. Android supports Windows just for the sake of it. iOS development is not supported for Windows platform. WP8 development alone is good on Windows machines. Unless there is WP8 development planned, the entire team should go for Mac OS X Retina Display 15" development machines for both Android and iOS. just for company ayithe device availability and usage wise go for windows based, and find out what is your company standard, do they have any restriction on device support? if the java app than development you can do it either on mac or windows, no difference, Happy Anniversary | ||

brothers, I am moving to a new team and onto mobile application development. I requested my manager for a Mac and he asked me to provide why Mac and why not windows and justify the reason. The current laptop i have I5 & 8gb Ram sucks to core when running Eclipse IDE. I can't just give this as a reason to go for mac, I know Eclipse runs better on OSX. I would like know any other reasons that would help me in putting up a case for getting Mac.
