are you sure? He is not working for Canadian company on Visitor visa. He is working for US Company in Canada and his salary will be from US Company into US bank. How does it matter for Canada? this process was introduced in Nov 2007 or sometime around that....exactly a week before I applied....and so the process was probably not well defined..... it makes sense to return the passport than keep it with them....that too while it is not our country.......they might be returning back now.......in the worst case, people can say screw visa and go back to home country......... | ||

this is v common these days...na beshtu jilani gadu MS-US, 2nd time stamping ottawa..same to same - "everything looks OK, but needs further investigation n processing" ani passport enakki ichedu 9 weeks wait chesadu vadu canada lo - they kept his original I-797/DS forms/Resume and returned his passport...original I-797 valla daggara unde sariki he couldn't return to US..it was very frustrating for him they were not picking up his calls or responding to his emails....veeditho patu strand aina inkontha mandiki emails ocheyanta "drop your passports" ani..so veedu ika direct ga consulate ki velli adigadu "na pojishan enti, pakkollaki ostunnai" ani.....vallu simple ga "oh by the way, needi 2 weeks back ye clear aindi, for some reason you didn't receive an email" ani passport tiskuni next day stamp esi pamperu adi matter...ask him to stay there, uska number zaroor aayega | ||

same thing happened to me earlier..........but luckily they called me the very next day and stamped my passport.............it was real scary not knowing the timeline...........and browsing the net was even more scary..........as there were cases.........where people got stranded in Canada for months waiting this procedure...............at that time, my family was in US, I was stranded in Canada.........and it was damn frustrating.......... if everything is good, he might get it real soon......... | ||
