The film was released worldwide on May 11, 2012.[2] The film set a box office record for the Telugu Film Industry by collecting a gross of more than INR1.5 billion.[4] The film was later dubbed in Hindi as Policewala Gunda and Theatrical trailer was released over YouTube by GoldminesTeleFilms on June 14, 2013.[6]

Gabbar Singh created a new opening day box office record and subsequently created the records for the highest grossing weekend and highest grossing first week in the Telugu film industry.[10] It also stands amongst highest openers ever in the Indian film industry. On its first day the film grossed approximately INR18 crores generating a net share of approximately INR13 crores.[10] The film has collected a record net share of INR42.55 crores worldwide with a record first week share of INR28 crores from Andhra Pradesh alone.[11] [12] At the end of two weeks the film has collected a record share of INR51.85 crores world wide.[13] The total three weeks share of the film now stands at INR58 crores.[14] The film has grossed more than US$1 million at the United States box office.According to Business Standard website, the film has collected INR128.75 crore (US$20 million) gross in three weeks.[15] The film has completed 50 days in 307 centres on June 29, 2012. Sources added that "Gabbar Singh" has also registered another record of running in 250 direct centers.[16] The film has shattered the box office collections records and has created a new history by raking around INR63 crores share after 50 days run.[17] According to India Today website, Gabbar Singh has emerged as the highest grossing Telugu film by grossing more than INR150 crore (US$23 million) in 60 days worldwide.[4] The film has completed 100 days in 65 centres on August 18, 2012.[18]
