Boston_baba:how is kishore different from above??
He has been asking for this for the past 9 years ever since it happened in 2003. Infact at that time he warned that Andhra will loose heavily due to this - E-Cor HQ in Bhubaneswar... no one was bothered. And none of the other MPs and MLAs are bothered - since this does not increase the value of their real estate in Hyderabad. Atleast he is bringing awareness on this.....But is anyone other politician even talking about this issue? asalu best thing is - de merge palasa from Orissa - merge it into Waltair division and form a new railway zone from SKKLM to chittoor dist. |

http://articles.timesofindia.indiatimes.com/2012-12-14/visak hapatnam/35820760_1_waltair-division-union-minister-train-se rvices Local MLAs led by Visakhapatnam South MLA and government whip Dronamraju Srinivas are gearing up to discuss the issue with the Union minister. Vizagites have been protesting over the past five years against the step-motherly treatment being meted out to the Visakhapatnam railway division despite it being the highest revenue grosser among all railway divisions in the country. Praja Spandana founder president and former IRS officer CS Rao said that local politicians do not have a strong will power to make the SRZ possible and unfortunately no chief minister of the state from late YS Rajasekhara Reddy to N Kiran Kumar Reddy have made sincere efforts to achieve this. "The state government should launch a strong movement in favour of the SRZ on the lines of Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The SRZ could only be possible with collective and sincere efforts by politicians apart from various other channels," said Rao of Praja Spandana, while mooting the merger of Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada divisions to form a single zone point with Visakhapatnam as its headquarters. |

http://www.thehindu.com/news/cities/Visakhapatnam/separate-r ail-zone-cms-intervention-sought/article4856489.ece TOPICS Andhra Pradesh Visakhapatnam politics state politics The intervention of Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy is needed for the formation of a separate railway zone with headquarters in Visakhapatnam, C.S. Rao, president of Praja Spandana, said. Referring to the report: âEnd to Waltair Division woes in sight?â which appeared in these columns on Tuesday, he noted that the elected political representatives had been fooling the public of Visakhapatnam in particular and north coastal Andhra in general. He noted that Praja Spandana and other organisations had been fighting for a separate Railway Zone right from the beginning when Waltair Division was tagged on to East Coast mini Railway Zone functioning from Bhubaneswar in Odisha with effect from April 1, 2003. C.S.Rao - This Division is almost feeding the other two Divisions i.e., Khurda Road and Sambalpur with an annual income of Rs.5,000 crore. The people of Visakhapatnam had expected a lot from the former MP N. Janardhan Redddy and the Minister of State for Commerce and Industry D. Purandeswari had given a categorical assurance immediately after the elections in 2009 that formation of Waltair Zone was her top priority. It is possible to form a separate zone with Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, East and West Godavari districts and it will change the face of the backward north Andhra region. He called upon the people, political representatives and leaders to launch a massive protest to ensure that a new zone was formed with headquarters in Visakhapatnam. |

People in Orissa are protesting this move - even though there is no major harm to them (If SE HQ is shifted from Kolkatta which is in Eastern Railway, to Bhubaneswar) People of Andhra who will benefit a lot if this happens are not bothered about this :-) |

Deo has written to Defence Minister A K Antony, who is heading a high power committee to look into the grievances and demands of different regions following UPA's decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh, that East Coast Railways Headquarters be shifted to Vishakhapatnam from Odisha capital Bhubaneswar. Vishakhapatnam, which he has proposed to be the capital of Seemandhra, is ideally situated at the centre of the east coast between Kolkata and Chennai, he argued. Deo, however, stressed that the interests of Odisha would not be harmed as he has also demanded that South Eastern Zonal Railways presently situated at Kolkata may be shifted to Bhubaneswar with Khurda attached to it. Kolkata has presently two zonal headquarters, Eastern Zonal Railways and South Eastern Zonal Railways. "Only after shifting the South Eastern Zonal Railways, the East Coast Zonal Headquarters presently situated at Bhubaneswar be shifted to Vishakpatnam with the addition of Vijayawada Division in lieu of Khurda Division," he said. "There is no question of depriving Odisha of whatsoever in this regard," he said. |
