HYDERABAD: Toughening their stand on the separate statehood issue, Telangana protagonists on Tuesday said they will not share Hyderabad as common capital with Seemandhra even on temporary basis.

During its steering committee meeting, the Telangana Political Joint Action Committee (TJAC) resolved to urge the Centre to reserve Hyderabad as capital exclusively for Telangana.

Earlier, the pro-Telangana forces including TJAC and Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) had agreed to the Centre's proposal to make Hyderabad as common capital to Telangana and Seemandhra for ten years. However, they decided to change the stand after the massive rally organized by the Seemandhra employees on Saturday at LB Stadium.

"We had agreed to the proposal after considering certain concerns of the people of Seemandhra. But, after witnessing their attitude they expressed during the public meeting, we decided to change our stand," M Kodanadaram, TJAC chairman, told TOI. "The ideas they articulated in the meeting were indicative of violence that could unleash if they are allowed to use Hyderabad as capital. Their attitude has instilled fear in Telangana people. It is better we avoid the flash point," added Kodandaram.
