Damn - i was wrong, i thought that the 4 times market value was the maximum, apparently it is the floor...can any one name any country, where the sellers get 4 times the market value...who decides the market value first of all... http://indiatoday.intoday.in/story/upa-land-acquisition-bill -anti-industry-bill-industry-experts/1/308822.html |

Within 2 days of the bills being passed, they have started going all out on the advertising for the land bills and the food bills. That means they got all the planning done much ahead in time for getting the bills passed...and how important it is for the elections.. First of all the advertising on land bill is misleading - it says that the land owners will get 4 times the market rate...what nonsense, the land bill only says that the price will be a maximum of 4 times, the advertising says that the land owners will get a price of 4 times the market rate at all times... and the land owners should get the market rate, why should they get a premium...the market price is a price agreed upon by a willing buyer and seller... Secondly, I think the land bill is going to be devastating for the industry. I am against the policy of eminent domain but only as regards as not paying the land owners the market rates, if not for eminent domain we would never get the railway lines, the universities, the schools, the government offices etc nothing...but the UPA under the guise of village socialism has stopped this by saying that only 70-80% of the land owners have to agree. For instance, how will Andhra get the land for a separate capital now...it is impossible now with the land acquisition bill... Thirdly, we need to get out of the romantic notion of farming and village life, no country became developed and rich by sticking to an agrarian economy...we need to industrialise, urbanise and pay the landowners the market price (not 4 times the price). It is sorry that none of the political parties even raised any stink about this bill, atleast on the food security bill there was some voices raised if not in parliament then atleast in the media, but there is sheer silence now. |
