Hmm .. may be .. sounds logical too .. my univ too increased the fee a lot .. kaani maadi around 100 ranking kabatti .. understandable .. btw .. Indian students spend 2 lakh crores (around 40 billion in USD when INR was ~50) every year on fees for higher studies!! another area where we can save a few USD .. yup yup .. gotcha .. feel bad for students .. my cousin is studying in a univ ranked around 40-50 and it is one of the largest public universities in US. he pays around $11000 for a sem with health insurance. his montly expenses are around 500. meeru cheppedi correct some of the higher ranked univ may have the same fees but then you need better gre scores, academics etc. to get in there. There is no correlation between rank of university and its fees. UT Austin probably has low fees but then not everyone gets in . | ||

Most of the univs <25 are well funded but lots of mid - range ones are not so tuition fees have been increased. In my university, my time it was 700 now it is 1200. | ||

i disagree. early 2000's to compare cheste fees in even average universities for MS have more than doubled. there are lot of mid level MS universities in 40-80 ranking range that have credit hours that are around 1000-1500. for an average 9 credit hours the fees can run into 11,000 - 13,000 including insurance. Add the increase cost of housing, cell phone calling cards, food prices a typical conservative student has a monthly expense of around 500. $15,000 is one sem fees + average of 6 months expenses for someone who does'nt have a campus job. The best advice you can give them is be aggresive in searching for intership, study well and hope for the best. | ||

if you dont have a legal job no ssn and with no ssn you wont get credit cards. Lots of private univs lo 1500 usd per credit hour. Suppose he signs up for 9 credit hours then 12K and he is not working so 15K is not a lot. And now-a-days getting ta/ga or even a campus job is not easy. fee+living .. on avg .. sem ki 8k USD avvachu .. but usually small jobs dorukutayi on campus .. can work part time for 20 hours/week .. and even if he makes 10$ an hour .. monthly oka 800 vastayi .. so that 3k per sem .. so deficit 4 * 5k is our expense .. and usually oka 2 sems ki assistantship/scholarship dorukutundi .. where u get much better salary and major part of ur fee is waived .. oka 20-25k avutundi kharchu .. if he/she can live conservatively .. ye univ? maree 15 lakhs aa sem ki?
