Kiran Kumar Reddy after the CWC decision on bifurcation of the State, as it has predicted a complete rout for the party in the Seemandhra region. The Congress’ vote share that stood at 34 per cent after the 2009 elections reportedly crashed to 10 per cent. The findings gave Congress party less than 20 seats out of 175 in the Seemandhra region. The outcome of the survey was placed before the A.K. Antony Committee by the Seemandhra Ministers and elected representatives during the 90-minute meeting in New Delhi on Tuesday night. They cautioned the panel that the Congress would pay a heavy price for dividing the State. “Our fortunes are doomed,” a Minister told the committee. Party leaders maintained that high command had underestimated the ongoing agitation in Seemandhra region. “We brought to their notice the spontaneous agitation in all parts of Seemandhra. It is people’s movement and built by the common man,” former Minister Gade Venkat Reddy told The Hindu on Wednesday. “There is no chance of the party surviving in the region after the decision,” Mr. Reddy said even as Government Whip R. Padmaraju echoed similar sentiments. “The panel was clearly told that bifurcation was not going to benefit the Congress in Seemandhra and Telangana as well,” Mr. Padmaraju said. The panel was asked why Justice Srikrishna Committee report was not considered. “Is it justified to ignore the demand and mood of the five crore people before announcing bifurcation?” he said and sought to know why only Telangana was announced when there was demand for more smaller States. “If the Congress does not want a second SRC, it should implement the sixth recommendation of Srikrishna Committee,” he remarked. i am leading a pious life so far so good modi for 2014 |
