MHA awaits nod for split DC | 14 min 58 sec ago Hyderabad: The Centre-state division in the Ministry of Home Affairs is still waiting for a green signal from home minister Sushilkumar Shinde for preparing a special note on the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. The division in the home ministry is in-charge of creation of new states and other issues. “We are aware of the statement made by finance minister P. Chidambaram in Rajya Sabha (on MHA preparing a special note for the Union Cabinet), once we get a nod from hierarchy, we will prepare a detailed note for the Cabinet’s consideration,” said additional secretary (Centre-State) of MHA, Skandan on Friday. Skandan said that the ministry was aware of the current developments in Andhra Pradesh including the agitations in the Seemandhra region. When asked about initiating the bifurcation process as assured by Chidambaram, Skandan said, “When an assurance is given in Parliament by the government, it will be implemented. We will prepare a special note on the issue, it is not a big issue. We will be ready with the note within the time which the hierarchy decides.” When asked about the exact time frame for completion of the whole bifurcation process, Skandan said, “I cannot tell you that; it depends on so many factors.” |
