There are strong indications that the YSR Congress Party president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy will soon come out on bail and hit the road to reach out to people. The legal experts point out that since the investigations into his alleged illegal assets case has reached a conclusive stage, the CBI will not be in a position to oppose his bail plea. On its part, the CBI is also said to be of the opinion that the Kadapa MP need not continue to be in jail as the crucial part of the probe into the Disproportionate Assets case has been completed and it would not be appropriate to oppose his release on bail. After the present tenure of the judicial remand is over, Jagan will be free to approach the court, seeking bail. In all probability, he might be granted conditional bail. The special CBI court in Hyderabad had on Monday extended to August 26 the judicial remand of Jagan and other accused in the case pertaining to 'quid pro quo' deals. The case relates to alleged investments made by private firms and individual investors in Jagan's companies as a quid pro quo for government favours when his father late YS Rajasekhara Reddy the Chief Minister. Jagan was arrested and sent to Chanchalguda jail in May last year. |
