http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-504943_162-20077552-10391715.htm l (CBS/What's Trending) - Children used to pray that they had an arm like Brett Farve. Now, they are praying that the quarterback doesn't return back to the NFL. The rumors that Brett Farve may pick up the pigskin once again started with NFL.com senior analyst Gil Brandt. Even though Farve hasn't made any utterance that he wants to return to the game, Brandt stands by his statements that the ex-Green Bay Packers and ex-Minnesota Vikings star has one more season left in him since "quarterbacks never want to retire." "I do think Favre would be interested in talking to a team about returning," Brandt said during a Tuesday live chat on NFL.com. "But I don't see a team out there right now that would bring him back as a starter." The senior analyst's speculation has set forth a fury of angry bloggers, most who want to put their two cents in and discourage the 43-year-old from returning to football. AOL Fanhouse Columnist Greg Couch wondered if there was a point to Farve's comeback, while Bleacher Reports' Eric Bowman strongly discouraged any team from signing the retired player again. However, Gary Cobb and the decided to play the devil's advocate and wrote his argument why signing Farve to be a backup for the Philadelphia Eagles' Michael Vick might actually make sense. On Twitter, it seems that NFL fans weren't opposed to Farve returning to the game -- as a coach. Some tweeters were even open to the idea of him returning as a third string quarterback. An overwhelming majority were against him returning to his former starting glory. |
